Queen's B'day weekend
03.06.2003 | 10:59 a.m.

I went to bed at about 11.30 on Thursday night, my parents got up shortly after and an ambulance arrived, leaving us wondering what was going on. My dad had had chest pains, so he decided to get it checked out, better to be safe than sorry. I think everything's ok, he's going in for cholesterol tests and all that soon.

I managed to drag myself out of bed to drive up on Friday morning. I arrived at Ben's in the afternoon, and had to spend a couple of hours cleaning it since it seemed that he hadn't in the past several months. We went out for drinks with some of the nut jobs from Ben's work, they shared the usual stories of failed attempts at driving over a river in the 4WD whilst drunk, partially sinking close to the opposing side, whilst the whole time acting like nothing out of the ordinary was going on.

On Sunday morning we drove up to Auckland to pick up the car Ben bought. We got up at about 5am, and left at about 6.10. I'm not a morning person, so that was hell for me. We got to the guy's place to pick up the car, the guy's dog promptly jumped up on me to cover my jeans in mud. We left there in separate cars, and I got to drive alone on the hell that is the Auckland motorway. We stopped at a cafe for a coffee once we got out of the worst of the traffic, and decided that we never ever want to live there, due to the hellish nature of driving around the city. After our sanity levels returned, we drove down to Hamilton. Were we dropped off our stuff, and went to visit some of Ben's loud relatives. I had forgotten just how loud they were. I also discovered that Ben had offered to let them stay here on labour weekend. eeek. We went back to where we were staying, had dinner, and attempted to play pool. I lost every time even when I played two shots for every one that Ben played.

We drove back yesterday (Monday). I am so sick of driving. I'm supposed to drive back down to Wellington tomorrow for the one lecture I have left before my exam, I'm not even sure if it's worth driving all that way for one lecture.
